The Magic of the Festa del Redentore 2026
Welcome to our hotel’s blog! If you are planning a stay in Venice for mid-July, one of the most extraordinary, authentic, and deeply felt events of the lagoon's tradition awaits you: the Festa del Redentore (Feast of the Redeemer). The pinnacle of the celebrations will take place on Saturday, July 18, 2026, offering locals and visitors alike the famous and thrilling Notte Famosissima.
An Ancient Venetian Tradition
Born to commemorate the end of the terrible plague that struck the city between 1575 and 1577, the Festa del Redentore is now the ultimate symbol of Venetian conviviality, identity, and belonging. Far more than a simple tourist event, it is a ritual passed down through generations. During this time, the lagoon comes alive with decorated boats and outdoor dining tables, beautifully blending historical devotion with the joy of being together.
The 2026 Program of Celebrations
The celebrations span three unmissable days, combining solemnity, folklore, and spectacular entertainment. Festivities officially begin on the evening of Friday, July 17, when the evocative floating votive bridge opens at 8:00 PM. This bridge connects the Zattere to the island of Giudecca, leading straight to the Church of the Redeemer, and will remain accessible until midnight on Sunday.
The most anticipated moment coincides with the magical night of Saturday, July 18. The world-famous fireworks display in the St. Mark’s Basin will start at 11:30 PM, ready to light up the night sky and reflect magnificently over the lagoon waters. Finally, Sunday, July 19, will be entirely dedicated to tradition. The afternoon kicks off at 4:00 PM with the traditional Redentore Regattas featuring Pupparini and two-oar Gondolas in the Giudecca Canal, and concludes officially at 7:00 PM with the Holy Votive Mass.
Tips from Our Hotel
To enjoy this magical night completely stress-free, planning ahead is essential. Please remember that to watch Saturday night's fireworks—whether from land (Zattere, Piazzetta San Marco, Riva degli Schiavoni, Giudecca) or from a boat, it is mandatory to book your spot online, as access is limited.
