2026 Art Biennale: Venice at the heart of the contemporary art world
From May 9 to November 22, 2026, Venice will be the world capital of contemporary art once again with the 61st International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia.
For over a century, this event has transformed the lagoon city into a mosaic of visions, languages, and cultures from every angle of the planet.
"In Minor Keys": the theme for the 2026 edition
The theme for the 2026 edition is "In Minor Keys", a poetic expression that invites us to reflect on the value of the more intimate and marginal voices of contemporary society.
The main exhibition, curated by Koyo Kouoh, will offer a journey that combines individual sensibilities, collective tensions, and new visual imagery.
“In Minor Keys” is a powerful metaphor: a reminder of the harmony hidden among differences, an invitation to rediscover art as a language capable of listening to the world in all its complexity.
Venues and pavilions
As per tradition, the Biennale will be held in the Giardini and the Arsenale, the two historic venues that host the National Pavilions and the large international exhibition.
In addition there will be dozens of collateral events spread throughout the city: site-specific installations in ancient palaces, performances in Venetian squares, temporary exhibitions in churches and unconventional spaces.
The Biennale is also an experience of urban exploration: each edition invites visitors to lose themselves in the streets, discover secret corners, and be surprised by unexpected encounters with art.
