Diese elegante Bar mit angenehmer Hintergrundmusik ist der perfekte Ort um stilvoll zu entspannen.
Die Bar befindet sich im Erdgeschoss des reizenden Hotel Ala, am Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, und ist außen mit Holzdekorationen des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts ausgestattet, die ursprünglich das Theater La Fenice in Venedig verzierten.
Was dieses Lokal einzigartig macht, ist das Abbild der russischen Gräfin Maria Tarnowska, Namensgeberin der American Bar. Sie gilt als Anstifterin eines düsteren Verbrechens im frühen 19. Jahrhundert, das innerhalb des damaligen Maurogonato Palast, dem heutigen Hotel Ala, zum Verhängnis einer ihrer vielen Liebhaber wurde.
Dieses Ereignis und das darauffolgende Gerichtsverfahren erlangten Bekanntheit in ganz Europa, und wir sind stolz darauf, dass die Geschichte der Gräfin Maria Tarnowska, unsere Bar zu einem der historischen Orte Italiens gemacht hat. Ernannt und festgelegt durch den Kulturverein des italienischen Ministeriums für Kultur und Erbgut.

Maria would like to have shouted out that Naumow was lying, but knew that wasn’t exactly the case; Naumow was simply ignoring the truth. He wasn’t beaten because of Maria’s cruelty, but because it was he who implored her to do it.
She would have been cruel if she hadn’t satisfied him. She beat him as a reward, not to cause him pain, because both drew pleasure from it, he and she.The psychiatrists: an illness!

And Prilukov: – “ She called me her mugik”. Maria thought: once only, in a fit of anger, did I say that.
It was subsequently he who wanted to be called by this abusive term, hundreds of times:

– “A mugik”.
That word, full of contempt, always excited him. Prilukov was excited by hearing words, Naumow by beatings.
