FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND |

One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with you. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to me, and the other to you. When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned you about it: "You said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." And you replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

Compositions of great effect: the choice of details, lines and colors on the surface of the water are essential ingredients of each work of Loffreda.

HISTORICAL REGATTA | 5TH September

The Historical Regatta takes place every year, the first sunday of september, is one of the most spectacular, picturesque and moving events of Venetian life, capable of both charming the tourists and exciting the venetians. It is celebrate to commemorate the welcome given to Caterina Cornaro, wife of the King of Cyprus, in 1489 after she renounced her throne in favour of Venice. It is a procession of 16th century style boats, with the famous Bucintoro, the boat representing the Serenissima, at its head. Then comes the competition. The spectators participate with shouts of encouragement during the sporting events.

25TH VENICE MARATHON | OCTOBER 24th 2010

The worldwide-known Venice Marathon is a competition open to everybody,  running once a year in the fourth Sunday of October .

A total journey of 42 Km through the streets of this beautiful city rich in artistic and historical sites, that starts from Stra till Riva Sette Martiri in Venice, along the Brenta river.

The 25th Venice Marathon will take place on the 24th October 2010.

FESTA DELLA SALUTE | 21st November

Every year, the 21 of November Venice celebrates the Madonna della Salute day, one of the most fascinating autumn festivities. This venetian festivity, as the Redentore, is celebrated in memory of a pestilence, which lasted for two years from 1630-31, and the subsequent vow by the Doge to obtain the intercession of the Virgin Mary. Still today every year on the Feast of the Salute Venetians and foreigners alike join in the pilgrimage to the majestic Longhena's basilica, crossing the votive bridge, to give thanks and praise the Virgin Mary to keep them in good health.

VOGALONGA | May 2011

This celebration, born in the ‘90 thanks to some Venicians to remember the problem of waves’ movement, it's a rowing run to the discovery of the lagoon and its hidden landscapes. The 37th edition of Vogalonga will be on May 2011. It's a 30 Km competition between different kind and shapes of boats, open to Venetians and foreigners. It starts near San Marco in front of Ducale Palace, going on between the islands of the lagoon and back in Venice through Cannareggio’s Rio.

INTERNATIONAL BIENNALE ART EXHIBITION | June to November 2011

54th Art Exhibition opens on June 5th 2011 in the Giardini and the Arsenale exhibition venues, as well as in various other locations around the city. (The press preview will take place on June 2nd, 3rd and 4th 2011).
