FOOTPRINTS IN THE SAND |
One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with you. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to me, and the other to you. When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned you about it: "You said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." And you replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." |

AND THERE WAS NO ONE LEFT TO SPEAK - Bertold Brecht |
When first they came for the criminals,
I did not speak.
When they began to take the Jews,
When they fetched the people who were members of trade unions,
I did not speak.
When they took the Bible students,
Rounded up the homosexual,
Then they gathered up the immigrants and the gypsies,
I did not speak.
Eventually they came for me,
And there was no one left to speak. |

Venice Carnival. Sensation 2012. | City, islands and mainland: 10-21 February 2012.
Fifth edition of the Venice Carnival in its new format, dedicated to the senses; traditional mix of fun, shows and culture. The Carnival of Venice, if not the most impressive, it is surely best known for holding the charm and mystery that continues to hold even now, 900 years have elapsed from the first document that refers to this historic celebration. Who has never heard of? You have memories of the festivities of the Carnival since 1094, under Doge Vitale Falier, in a document that speaks of public entertainment in the days preceding Lent. The official document declaring the Carnival is a public holiday in 1296 when the Senate declared public holiday on the last day of Lent. In Venice, the Carnival fever never ceases during the year. A subtle euphoria creeps in between the streets of the most beautiful city in the world and grows imperceptibly, as naturally salt water, blurs the outlines of things, it suggests the mysteries and atmosphere of times gone by. Once the Carnival of Venice allowed to leave those jobs to devote himself entirely to entertainment. people came to watch the jugglers, the acrobats, animals, dancing, acrobats, trumpets, fifes and drums were almost consumed by custom, street vendors were selling dried fruit, chestnuts, and fritole (pancakes) and desserts of all kinds. Venice became the top European school of pleasure and play, the mask and irresponsibility. Venice became the great virtuoso of metamorphosis and the carnival was and still is) his exploits. The Carnival of today is a magnificent "happening" that draws crowds of onlookers from around the world with thousands of festival masks and a bright and peaceful occupation of the Lagoon. Among the narrow streets of the wonderful city for ten days, there is a continuous representation of theatrical fun and playfulness, all in masks to celebrate the charm of a world of dancing, jokes, galas exclusive and romantic encounters |
