Punta della Dogana

The contemporary art center of Punta della Dogana was reopened in 2009 after careful restoration, interior and exterior, faithful to the original structure by the famous architect Tadao Ando. The famous triangular tip of the island of Dorsoduro, facing the San Marco Basin, has been known since the thirteenth century Venice as the Punta della Dogana de Mar

A vantage point for excellence, characterized by a low-century building (by Giuseppe Benoni) crowned by a tower topped by the golden ball, golden bronze sphere supported by two atlases, to represent the world.

During this time hosting the exhibition "PRIMA MATERIA " which collects works hand created by various artists different in style and generation, a fusion of contemporary art that will amaze you. Present creations by Marlene Dumas, Lizzie Fitch & Ryan Trecartin, Alighiero Boetti and many others. Thru December 31 2014.

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is among the most important museums in Italy for European and American art of the 20th century. It is located in Peggy Guggenheim's former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the Grand Canal in Venice. The museum presents Peggy Guggenheim's personal collection, masterpieces from the Hannelore B. and Rudolph B. Schulhof Collection, the Gianni Mattioli Collection, the Nasher Sculpture Garden, as well as temporary exhibitions.

The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is owned and operated by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, New York, which also operates the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and which is a partner of the Basque Regional Government for the programming of the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

Elegant and precious, our Venice has its own fascinating magic!

Take the time to admire the Art and listen to the Music that comes to life in museums, in churches and palaces.

CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR'S EVE IN VENICE December 2014 - January 2015

The days of end of year in Venice take a special charm. The magic atmosphere of Christmas  envelops every detail, every corner, every street and there are many opportunities to indulge the enchantment of the city. There are plenty of classical and gospel concerts in churches, theaters and “campi”. The beautiful “Presepe” (cribs)are  set up in the Frari Church, San Salvador or in Madonna dell’Orto Church, as the local markets along the Strada Nuova, in Campo San Luca and St. Bartholomeo.

WISHING VENICE? Celebrate the New Year in Venice, staying at the Hotel Ala.

To welcome the new year the city offers concerts ranging from the Baroque music, all in beautiful places as the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro, San Vidal, San Giovanni Evangelista, Ateneo San Basso and Palazzo Barbarigo Minotto. But among all the proposals, none can match the magic of New Year's Concert at La Fenice and the party in the magnificent Piazza San Marco, accompanied by a dazzling fireworks display.

e non cera rimasto

When first they came for the criminals,
I did not speak.
When they began to take the Jews,
When they fetched the people who were members of trade unions,
I did not speak.
When they took the Bible students,
Rounded up the homosexual,
Then they gathered up the immigrants and the gypsies,
I did not speak.
Eventually they came for me,
And there was no one left to speak.

One night I had a dream. I dreamed I was walking along the beach with you. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to me, and the other to you. When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned you about it: "You said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me." And you replied: "My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
