THANKS FOR TRIPPING!

We wish to thank all our Friends who have taken part into the Community of Tripadvisor, for reviewing us more than 700 times. Your opinion is always important to us! A big hug, we love you, Silvia and all the Guys at the Ala.

Loved watching the Gondolas drift below our window
Hotel Ala was so easy to find, which is a plus when staying in Venice. We arrived by Vaporetti. Our room was on the second floor, bed was comfortable and all you would need in a room for a two night stay or more was there. Fantastic thing was hearing and seeing the gondolas drift by with the solo singers and piano accordions and seeing the happy people floating by. Staff were good and when the printer didn’t work to print our boarding pass they let us use the office. Breakfast was plentiful; there seem to be a lot of American Tourists more than any other. Excellent location.

Bel emplacement, accueil mediocre

Pagamos nossa conta e fomos tomar o café.

It's only OK....but research carefully.
This Best Western Ala is a bit worn and has losted it's glitter. It has an excellent location (west of the St. Marco's Square) to the central Venice's major attractions and transportation modes. Furniture in the public spaces and the rooms are need replacement or renewal. In our superior canal bedroom, the bath flacets were leaking, sinks/shower drains slow to drain, and tile joints/grout were showing signs of mildew, etc. The breakfast each morning was excellent...very complete and having a wide variety of various foods, juices, etc. The front desk staff was excellent. I would tell everyone to research further at other establishment before finally choosing the Ala... the photos at TA's seems to complement this establishment more than it really deserves.

Great Hotel
Great location - so close to St Mark's Square - just a five minute walk but far enough away not to be noisy or completely surrounded by other tourists!!! Great room and many thanks for the free upgrade we had due to celebrating our wedding anniversary. Our room overlooked the small typical canal at the back of the hotel and every evening as we were getting ready to go out we were serenaded by the passing Gondoliers. Room was spotlessly clean, bathroom a good size with a bath (we were only expecting a shower), the beds were a tad hard but we slept fine and things like that are always going to be down to personal taste so not a problem. Breakfast was fantastic with a huge choice ranging from pastries to cheese, meats, cereals, yogurts and scrambled eggs. The coffee was SO good!!!  We didn't really have a need to interact very much with the Staff but they were always polite and answered our queries immediately. Many thanks for a really lovely stay in a very beautiful city.

Great hotel; excellent location
We highly recommend this hotel. It is one of the hotels where you can get off the public “water bus” (vaporetti) at the Santa Maria Giglio stop and take your bags up one short alleyway to the hotel without having to drag them over any bridges. It has a great location close to St. Mark’s square (10 minute walk), The Opera House (5 minute walk), and Accademia Bridge (8 minute walk).
The staff was most good and helpful. Breakfast included and was great – a wide variety of meats, cheeses, fruit, cereals, bread and rolls, coffee, juices, etc. A very good “American Bar” with personable and helpful staff. A lot of travellers found their way to this bar.

I Love Italy
Having arrived to Venice by train from Florence, we took the vaporetti and enjoyed a trip down the Grand Canal to the Giglio stop. Make sure to buy a vaporetti map (2 euro) when you get your ticket so you can follow the journey and use for locating other things. It is only a short walk to the hotel using the directions they emailed me. Despite a complication with our booking - my fault not theirs - we were accommodated for our two nights. Our room was small but comfortable and all that we needed. Pricing and location far outwayed that minor issue. Everything is in walking distance. Be sure to go to St Marks Square in the evening and listen to the music: just magic. Walking to the Rialto Bridge gives you a chance to get away from the main areas and see more of the city; shops are also cheaper. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent - catering for all tastes. We were able to leave our bags at the hotel after check out for half a day until we had to go to the airport which allowed us a final few hours to enjoy the city. Arriving home a week and a half later, I realised I had left a painting we had purchased in Venice. The hotel was most helpful in locating this and sending it to us. I definitely need more time in Venice and would not hesitate to stay at Ala next time.

Locatio, clean, and charm

We stayed in the hotel Ala in October 2011, our first trip to Venice. We arrived at mid night, the front desk and bell person were friendly, quickly to get us to our room. The room was large, charming, simple Venice style; it is better than our expectation since we'd read few horrible reviews about hotels in Italy in TripAdvisor. The bathroom was functional, modern and with Jacuzzi. We had a room overlooking the canal. Since the hotel is right off S. M. Giglio ACTV stop and five minutes to S. Marco, we were be able to ride up and down the canal easily. Like other reviews, we had wonderful breakfast, a lot of fresh fruits, and fresh pastries. Overall, we like to recommend the Hotel Ala. We will stay in this hotel when we visit Venice in the future.

Comfort and Convenience in San Marco
I have stayed at the Best Western Hotel Ala in the heart of Venice 2 or 3 times. It is unbeatable for location and the service is very good. It is right by the Vaporetto stop at Santa Maria del Giglio, so if you are too tired to walk, you can take the water bus and basically go anywhere. It is a 3-4 minute walk to San Marco and the Doge Palace.
Continental breakfast, with some cooked things such as eggs, is included in the daily room rate and certainly sets you up nicely for the day. There are interesting neighbourhoods nearby, such as Campo Angelo, and many good restaurants for dinner close at hand. Excellent shops, such as Venetia Studium and Cristina Linassi are also near the hotel.
As with anywhere in Europe, if you are staying for more than 3 days, choose a double/queen room rather than a single. More room for you and your luggage.

Location and charm
Our 3rd floor room overlooked the canal with gondolas going by in the afternoon and early evenings. Very charming. The room was large with three windows. Our only complaint is the shower which seemed to be an afterthought in the bathroom. If you get a room with a bathroom that is all title with a shower curtain in the corner, watch out…as the entire room becomes a shower, but with any paper products in the room included! If you want dry Kleenex and toilet paper, put them in the cabinet when you shower. Other than the shower, the room was extremely comfortable.
We had a problem with the breakfast area. On the first morning, another guest was coughing into the food displays. The coffee also was diner-type, well below Italian standards. Other folks seemed to be enjoying the breakfast, we ate elsewhere.
All in all, great location, adequate staff, and a nice room.
This was the second time that we have stayed in this hotel, the last time being in 2009. The staff are fantastic and very helpful and the hotel is very close to Saint Marco Square. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the breakfasts are very good with a great selection. We are looking forward to staying there again in the future.

Value, Location and Service
We stayed in the Ala in September 2011, it was our fourth stay at this hotel. The location and value are exceptional, but this time the staff performed beyond expectation. I took our clothes to a laundry and didn't check the closing time for the laundry and when I returned to pick up our clothes the laundry was closed. We were leaving early the next morning, before the laundry would be open, but the concierge said he would have someone go to the laundry and pick up our laundry and send it to us in the USA. Only a few days after we returned home our laundry arrived.

Great hotel!
Me and my other half actually booked to stay in Residenza Favaro, a place just round the corner. However we got to Venice quite late, and were directed to the sister hotel Ala. My heart initially sank a little, as Favaro did look very nice. Thankfully though hotel Ala did not disappoint. Room nice clean, fairly quiet (some noise from side street in the morning, tho i'm a v.light sleeper), modern, comfy, bit small but ok, in a good central location just a few mins walk from San Marco Square. The hotel looks very old and historic (like Venice!), and has retained alot of its features, especially the beatiful staircase leading up to the rooms. Would stay here again and definitely recommend.

Great value, perfect location
This hotel is a great choice - only a few minutes walk to San Marco Square, but in a quiet location just a minutes' walk from the Santa Maria del Giglio vaporetto stop. Nice room, not large but adequate, good bathroom and shower. Wonderful breakfast included with lots of fresh fruit, eggs, rolls, juice, etc. Front desk is helpful. Our room overlooked a small canal which was quiet at night. A very good value for the money - we would stay here again and would recommend it. They gave us a discount coupon for a great restaurant where we ate dinner that is very nearby - I was told that the owner of the hotel also has an interest in the restaurant or owns it.

Buena situacion

Hotel Ala
Hotel Ala is centrally located, which helps on your first visit to Venice, The staff are all very friendly and helpful, our arrival on the water taxi was easy and without fuss The bed was comfortable, although the room was a little small for a three night stay. Breakfast had lots of choices. The bar attached to the hotel was a great place to finish an evening in Venice.
The only disappointing thing was that our room did not look anything like the advertised rooms.
The friendly staff (very helpful during a ferry strike on the Monday of our stay) and the central location helped to ease this disappointment.
We travelled with another mature couple September 2011

Wonderful room and great view!
We stayed at the ALA for 1 night before we left for a cruise. It was a very pleasant experience! The rooms were a good size, however it was a little pricey! But that's just Venice I think. It was hard to find but after, we found it was very centrally located. Front desk were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also very good. Would stay there again!
