Bonjour Sylvia,

Ciao, Paulette Gall

We arrived at Hotel Ala on my birthday. I had emailed ahead that it would be my birthday and if available could we have a special surprise. We were given a room with a beautiful view of the canal from the balcony. Wow! Even without this upgrade we still would rate Hotel Ala the same, excellent. It is an well run property; professional and helpful staff, very clean room and common areas, excellent breakfast with something for everyone and in a stylish dining room. The location is excellent. We got off at the stop of the same name and in less than one (city) block (without steps over a bridge with our luggage) we were there. We were within walking distance of so many iconic land marks. Many dining establishments near the hotel with a range of prices for everyone's budget. There is a rooftop deck with a beautiful view of the rooftops of Venice. You can order a drink or bring up something yourself. The entire Hotel Ala is very well cared for with many amenities. For example, ice cold natural flavored waters to enjoy when you return and a place to charge your phone that is secured. One of the iconic large hotels of Venice, the Gritti Palace, is only steps away on the grand canal. We went there for drinks. The best rate and value for Hotel Ala was booking with the hotel itself.Upon returning to Venice we would stay here again. It's historical, its charming and money well spent, an excellent value) on a holiday you won't forget!

Engagement at Hotel Ala - Rated *****

We stayed at Hotel Ala on September 22nd for four days. The airport water taxi dropped us off close by, probably about a 5 minute walk to the hotel. We had a quick check-in service and received a great room which overlooked the small square at the front of the hotel. Our room was quite large and provided all amenities required for a short stay. Air conditioning, safety deposit box, hair dryer, Tv with free-view and small toiletries. The room was cleaned daily. The breakfast was lovely and provided all that you would need. English cereals, porridge, fruit, cold cuts, pancakes, scrambled eggs, etc. The location of the hotel was perfect. About a 10 minute walk to the main square, with shops, cafes and bars all close by.

I had a surprise during our stay in Venice, as my boyfriend purposed. When we arrived back to the hotel after he purposed, the hotel had provided Prosecco and nibbles for the room including petals over the bed. This was such a nice touch from the hotel. We had a few drinks in the hotel bar, which had great live music and always had a lovely atmosphere. The two bar men provided great service and the prices were no expensive than anywhere else we had visited.

Overall, I would stay in Hotel Ala when we return in the future.

Perfect location Venice Canal - Rated *****

We had a room on the canal with a balcony, this made our stay super special. The hotel is olde world Venizia, with excellent staff and beautiful decor. The breakfast is delicious, hot & fresh cooked eggs or waffles or yogurt with fruits and delicious pastries. We liked the bar, the rooftop terrace, and the location is fantastic for walking to all the major sights or catching the water bus.

Amazing Hotel – Rated *****

It was our first time in Venice and this hotel was perfect! The free breakfast was delicious, location could not be better (right near the Basilica and very close to Vaperetto stops). Our room overlooked a gondola route which was amazing! You can hear the singing right from your room.. such a wonderful experience :) I would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in Venice!

Fantastic Location and Very Affordable! – Rated ****

Hotel Ala was in a fantastic location which is great for sightseeing, the Doge's Palace only a few minutes walk. The hotel was also very reasonably priced especially compared to nearby hotels! The staff were also very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Venice!

My First Trip to Italy – Rated *****

The staff were very helpful and you were greeted with a smile
If you had any questions as to how to get somewhere they would help show you on your map
The maid service was great and if I needed anything I could leave her a note and she took care of it for me
The morning breakfast they provided was great
The location of the hotel was great and you were centrally located to St Mark's Square but you were away form the hustle and it was quiet and safe

Right next to the Gritti Palace and more authentically Venetian – Rated ****

Greatest location..friendly staff...fun bar in the evening...nice rooms...swell breakfast..good place to feel like you're in the middle of Venice but a little quieter the msot fancy expensive hotel in venice- the Gritti Palace - is right next door and this is better!

A Wonderful Place in Venice - Rated *****

We stayed there last week for three days, had a double superior (non-smoking), pricey $260, but worth it.

Great location, right on water, easy to get around, very helpful staff.

There are only about 10 non-smoking rooms. We splurged and also got a canal view, which to be honest wasn't necessary. The screenless window was below waist level and you could easily tip in...however, it was neat to see gondoliers coming in under with the musicians on board (private concert.)

The breakfast was very ample, also the robe and slippers in room was luxury! We would definitely stay there again!
